Can someone advise me on the details of a census that I have found on family search

Name   James Potter
Event Type   Census
Event Date   1841
Gender   Male
Age   65
Birthplace   Scotland
Parish   Edinburgh
County   Midlothian
Birth Year (Estimated)   1776

I have tried to find it on Scottish People but have been unable to find it.  Any advise welcome if it's mine he will be a shoemaker or tanner

There is a James Potter in Ayrshire that might fit with the occupation you mention:

James Potter 67 shoemaker journeyman b. Ireland
Mary Potter 67
Janet Potter 35
Agnes Potter 30

Address: High Street, Ayr

Thanks for that Monica.  My James was married to a Jane Holdsworth unless he married again to a Mary and moved from Mid Lothian to Ayr. Daniel his son was also a shoemaker who lived in Dalkeith.  Gosh this part of my history is proving hard to decipher.
