Anyone visit the NRO at all?
« on: Wednesday 20 September 17 14:58 BST (UK) »
Hi All

I am not local to Norfolk and was wondering if anyone is close to or goes to the Norfolk Records office?  I would like some things looked up there but I am unable to make a trip there to go myself...

Many thanks

If you are looking for parish register entries, then Norfolk records are available via FindMyPast.  If you live in England then many libraries have access to FindMyPast.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

One is a marriage certificate to see if there is a fathers name on it, and the other is for the bastardy records/quarter sessions.  I have had no luck myself on ancestry or FindMyPast :(

1) Marriage certificate for Thomas Buckingham and Maria Cooper - Docking - 4b 557  I am after the name of the father on the certificate, if there is any.

2) I am trying to find the dad of Robert Buckingham born 1838 in Shouldham, to a Sarah Buckingham/Buckenham.  There is no record of a baptism or birth, so I need to check the quarterly sessions or bastardy records to see if the Mum, took the dad to court to obtain child allowance

Many thanks

There's a Thomas Henry Buckingham & on the same page is Mary Maria Cooper but this is Chelsea 1a 660.

1) Marriage certificate for Thomas Buckingham and Maria Cooper - Docking - 4b 557  I am after the name of the father on the certificate, if there is any.

To help anyone who may be looking for this, the marriage was September qtr 1871.
Marriages Sep 1871
BUCKENHAM  Thomas
Cooper    Maria
Docking registration district    4b   557

Maria was born Heacham and the family were in Heacham in 1881 so that may indicate where the marriage took place

Do you know which church they married in  :-\

One problem is that there are a large number of Civil Parishes within the Docking Registration District - 37.  Another is that by this time marriages are also taking place in Register Offices plus, of course, all the non-conformist churches.

Very sorry if this all sounds very negative  :'(

That was all the details I had found, so no side of what church etc. I couldn't find anything so didn't know if the number would be any good to anyone to look it up.
