Hi!
Can anyone help with any of the following?
I have a John Abbott marrying Sarah Riddle on 12 October 1763 at Great Addington. Sarah was baptised at Ringstead on 16 September, daughter of Joseph and Sarah Riddle.
John and Sarah had the following issue (as well as two children not yet found):
Mary baptised 5 April 1764
Jane Baptised 29 April 1765
Sarah baptised 29 April 1765
John baptised 25 December 1768
Sarah baptised 6 January 1771
Robert baptised 14 January 1772
Daniel baptised 16 January 1774
Susanna baptised 26 May 1776
Joannah baptised 8 March 1778
Diana baptised 8 August 1779
Ann baptised 8 June 1783
Jane baptised 19 February 1786
Lucy baptised 23 September 1787
The parish burial for John at Great Addington states he was a labourer, the oldest man in the parish, buried 31 August 1823 aged 84 years old.
He was only married once and had 15 children, 43 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren at the time of his death.
I cannot find a baptism for John at all, though there are a few families named Abbott living at Great Addington, one being a Thomas and Susanna Abbott who had:
William born 1740, Mary 1743, Jane 1745, Daniel 1747, Christopher 1749, Susanna 1751, James 1752, Sarah 1756 and Elizabeth in 1763.
This Thomas Abbott was a Waver by trade.
There is also another Thomas Abbott (maybe the same one who married Susanna?) who married Elizabeth Abbott on 23 September 1727, and also Elizabeth Inman on 5 June 1729 also at Great Addington. His issue was:
Thomas 1729, Elizabeth 1730, Ann 1730, Joseph 1732, Mary 1734, Thomas 1735 and Ann 1736.
The only record I can find for a Thomas Abbott marrying a Susanna is for a Mr Thomas Abbott to a Mrs Susanna Ducommen (Duncombe?/Durommen?) at St Nicholas Warwickshire on 21 August 1739.
Quite confusing as you can see so any help greatly appreciated!!
