Do you have the family together on any census?

The only Barbara West I can see was born c1884, daughter of William & Hannah West:

Just from memory, they are all on the 1881 census, in Byker N/Castle.
Not Joseph, though.
Little Allen Jr. died in infancy and Barbara as an older girl.
Allen snr died early/mid 1880's ( comes from long line of Allen Wests, Byker, watermen)
Mother Mary nee McDonough remarried Alexander Fluker.
Sorry for lack of dates etc. Can elaborate when back home in a few days.

Sorry for delay. Am now back at home with access to my notes
For anyone still looking in and willing to wrestle with the puzzle:
1881 census has the Wests at Byker Bank with John 6, Barbara 4, Allen jn 2, Catherine 3 mth.
(Joseph not yet born) Only John is reg'd at birth and bap'd. No official records of births of others, including our Joseph.
Looks to have been a very poor and unhealthy family, struggling to survive.
Allen jn dies 1883. Allen snr dies 28/8/1884. Catherine dies 1882. Barbara lasts a bit longer and dies 1890. John seems to survive till 1929.
Mother Mary West nee McDonough remarries Alexander Fluker in 1890. Has 3 more children.
1911 census offers further contradictions as Mary records 4 living and 2 dead children.

The 1911 census asks for numbers of children in the current marriage ;D

Thanks. I didn't know that.
So, 1911 census is less than relevant to the hunt for Mary's earlier children.
