Watkins census
« on: Wednesday 20 September 17 22:41 BST (UK) »
Hi all

Just trying to cross reference names and census of some of my Watkins.

Looking for a John Watkins and his wife Tryphena.  John born about 1799.

Oddly my John Watkins son Sidney, named his daughter Tryphena, but not the same John as above.
So a little lost on how this name came about.

So any census results to have a little look to see if they are cousins in some way.

Thanks

Think Tryphena is called Elizabeth in 1841 census, same address as 1851.

Tryphena is a widow in Dartford Workhouse in 1871.

There is this possible probate in 1876

Not certain if I am riding the wrong pony.  But it does seem strange to have the name Maria Tryphena Watkins show up as a grandchild to my John Watkins.

My John Watkins was born abt 1796, Lewisham, married Martha Hurst.  His parents have been very hard to trace, as a number of John Watkins seem to appear around the Kent area at that time.

So we have this other John born abt 1799 who married Tryphena, so he could possibly be a cousin to my John of 1796?

Driving me bats at the moment.  Even with what census I have at the moment, my John has a granddaughter Alice Watkins age 11 in 1861...do you think I can find her? No.

And then in 1851 a possible sister for John, Ellen Bourn (married) born abt 1806,  still can not find her or her marriage.

Are all the records available for Kent as yet?

I can't find Alice born abt 1850 either, her birth doesn't seem to have been registered.
