History of this book

Could anyone tell me a little bit about this book?? I found it clearing out my grandads house and wonder how he got it. Also inside was a photo of a X-ray with writing on the back, also looks like someone has wrote calculations in parts of the book.

I am Zoe Northeast, granddaughter of Maximilian Double.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,
Zoe

I imagine it was handed out to people like the VAD nurses, who had some training but were not fully qualified nurses. Never the less they did invaluable work in field hospitals and were often the ones to be with a dying soldier at the end. Gruelling for young inexperienced girls.
Do as another Rootschatter has suggested, and contact The Red Cross.

There are a number of these for sale on the internet. These are for 1938/39/40.

https://www.abebooks.co.uk/book-search/title/british-red-cross-society-first-aid-manual-no-1/author/st-j-d-buxton/

Some are clean but others have the names of the previous owner or notes/scribbles made by them.

Probably many reasons for having it! He may have done a First Aid course and was given it then.
Someone may have been given an updated version and gave him their old copy to keep in the house?
