Camborne War Memorial
« on: Thursday 21 September 17 12:27 BST (UK) »
..... the Camborne Squash Courts in North Parade.  Do either of you recognise the building I am referring to? As for the war memorial, which is in the churchyard, it states that the names are displayed inside the parish church but it was locked. On Sunday! It will have to await my next trip.
I posted this on 30 April 2007 under Camborne Squash Courts and have been back several times. This year I deliberately went on a Sunday to see the War Memorial inside the church. It was closed until later in the evening. I was unable to wait over 3 hours.
If anyone happens to be going by when it is open , I would be very pleasd to know if the name of
E.B.Ellis died 1 November 1914 is included in the list. Many thanks, Toby.

Christine - for a  10 year old that is a splendid post, well done ;D
PS - I know what you mean.

More seriously - Toby - I presume you have seen his various records?

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,

Thanks so much to both of you. I always wondered if Camborne had acknowledged him. Born in Swindon on 29th August, he married Louie Bullock [on 8th October 1911 at the United Methodist Church] from Centenary Row who was a fuse maker (another Cornish invention that saved lots of lives). Difficult to find out why she was in America and what happened to her. T.

From the address you've given for Louie Bullock I assume her parents were Richard Bullock and Louise Giddy. Here is her death record in Illinois 14 Mar 1978 :
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:Q2MJ-3Y9S

She appears to have married Ernest H Davies in 1914 : Redruth 3 Q 5c 353

She is on a passenger list in 1920 with various family members :

L. Kathleen Davies 25 housewife last permanent address Camborne ; nearest relative E B Ellis ( mother ) 2 Centenary Row, Camborne ; destination Butts
A Josephine Davies 5 child
L Kathleen Davies 2 child
Louie Ellis 50 mother
Frederick John Bullock 16
Ruby May Bullock 5
Departed Southampton , arrived New York 30 Oct 1920 on the Aquitania
The names are as they appear on the manifest but Louis Ellis 50 should be Bullock , I think ?

Wow Christine. You have taken my breath away. I need to digest that for there are some queries. I shall be back. Thank you so much. T

Yes there are some inconsistencies there , aren't there. After today I may not be back for a day or two ( heading to the Lake District for a spot of walking ), but others may pick up in the mean time.
It struck me that Louie Bullock from Centenary Row would only have been 15 at the first marriage. Do you have the certificate confirming her father's name etc ?
