Kermit Van Leuven was an attorney with the post-war US High Commission for Germany.

Kermit and Violet Van Leuven sailed to New York from Le Havre in November 1952 (en route to Oklahoma City) on the SS America. She was 50 years old.

One version says she was the landlady of the place Abdul stayed as a student.
It is said that she managed a restaurant/hotel in London, but I don't know if that fits well with Abdul being a student in Cambridge.


It looks as though it was after he was at Cambridge (From the wiki article)  Tunku had met Coulson in 1927, during his second year as a law student in London

I did find a piece on google about Tunhku Abdul Rahman born 1903, saying that he married Violet Coulson who was five years older than him, but I can t find it again!
This might be wrong of course or she may have "adjusted" her age.
