Mcgivern and McCully family of st malachys Belfast
« on: Friday 22 September 17 14:22 BST (UK) »
hi all,
my sister in law is descended from Patrick Mcgivern(c1843-1899) and Margaret McCully(c1846-c1919)
they married at st malachy's 7 oct 1869. margaret mccully says she was born in scotland in 1901 and 1911 census records. they had a number of children 3 of which died in 1875 and 1 was born and died in 1881. they had a son patrick in 1874 and a son james in 1877. both might have emigrated to the USA. patrick lived in kearney, New Jersey. he married Kate(catherine) madden in 1906. james was a witness at the wedding. my sister in law is descended from margaret mcgivern b 1883 who married william pollock in 1912. they moved down to dublin in the 1920s. if anyone has any information on this family or is descended from them, i would love to hear from you.
i know there is a tree on ancestry by a descendant but she has passed away and some info is incorrect.
regards
John

Got marriage cert last week. Gives margarets father as samuel mccully and patricks father as patrick. Patricks age as 30 and margaret 35. A bit off from census and death certs. I did find a birth of a margaret born 1842 in scotland with father samuel and mothers maiden name elliot. Ages mean that patrick born abt 1839 and margaret 1834 but ages can be falsified
