Hi James
Thanks for sharing the photos.  I found a death reference for James Christopher McLaughlin in 1973, registered East Glamorgan.  This is the district for Brithdir.  Trying to locate where he is buried and hopefully a photograph of his headstone.

Hi James
A copy of his death certificate would help if you don't mind.  I've emailed one of the daughters who is the custodian of the Silver War Badge and hopefully she will be able to answer your question regarding how they came by the badge.  I'm sure the family will be happy to receive whatever photos you can share.

Regards, Roy

Hi James
I find the death certificate interesting inasmuch he died in the home of daughter Patricia (Pat) and Gwyn Griffiths in Brithdir.  The doctor Patrick O'Shea is a legend in Brithdir, he was the village doctor for 54 years.  Given that another daughter Mary Eliza Filmer was the informant I wonder if she and James were visiting Brithdir when he died.  I've checked Find A Grave but found no photograph of a headstone at the village cemetery; this doesn't mean he wasn't buried there though unless of course his body was transported back to Kent?
