What is the source of your information that he was from Northamptonshire & was hung?  A Peter Roberts was sentenced to death at Lancaster for burglary, but along with several others was granted a pardon on 13 Apr 1820 on condition of being transported to NSW 'or some other of the islands adjacent' for the rest of his natural life.

He would appear to be the Peter Roberts aged 17 convicted and sentenced earlier the same month.
