Merle when he was working for the Veteran's Land Branch (read about that in the book selection DB posted).  Hendersons Brandon Directory - 1947 and 1950.

See also the 1943 Directory ... John P Byggdin of Brandon Creamery.   Also fits with the information in the book DB posted.  John worked in dairies in Yorkton and Brandon prior to 1944.

The first directory here shows Ralph Byggdin on page 169 (not 166 and 174 as shown in the list of "hits")

Saskatchewan Cemeteries Project list of burials in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Melfort has

Melvin Russell Scott, April 19 1915 - May 9 1995.

http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~cansacem/melfort.html

This might be the husband of John's daughter L.  L's brothers' obituaries (Ralph in 2009 and Ernest in 2006) say that she is the wife of L Henwood.  Looks like she married again.

NannyJan started the ball rolling  ;D and you ran with it.  ;D

Sister Hilda joined her brother John in Craik, Sask. from Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1913 to keep house for her brother, and married Henry Sanden in 1918. From the same book, "Craik, the Friendliest Place" page 424 and 425.

Hi,

Wow - lots of Sanden information in that book!  Two of the Sanden boys were pallbearers at their Uncle John P Byggdin's funeral in 1981.    :)

Findagrave has several of the Sandens in the Craik Cemetery

This looks like Hilda M Byggden (born in Sioux Falls), with her siblings and parents in Minnesota in 1910

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33SQ-GRVN-LHL?i=10&cc=1727033

The book found by DB says that John P Byggden's parents are Gustav and Anna.  This fits with the above census record.

I wonder if sister Ruth on the census is the Ruth Jeffrey in the family photo on page 65 of the book?  Just a guess...
