Hi emeltom

I can't find Yearncombe, but I have found Yarnscombe. Do you think that the register entry for Helene LOVEBAND has been mis-spelled?

That's how it was spelt when I found it but it wouldn't surprise me if it should have been Yarnscombe. People in those days weren't the best at spelling and they wrote what they heard and if you take broad accents into account anything  could be written down!

Thanks. As you say, it must have been a mis-spelling and/or mis-hearing of Yarnscombe. Certainly, there is a baptism of Ellen LOVEBAND in Yarnscombe in 1660 to Matthew and Jane.
