John brown Sheffield
« on: Sunday 24 September 17 18:35 BST (UK) »
Hi

Looking for the ancestors of John Brown who lived in the Gleadless/Woodhouse area of Sheffield. Possibly born around 1805 and married to Hannah. They possibly married in 1841.

They had a daughter Hannah Brown who was born in Gleadless in 1844 and married George Mimmack Davison in 1863.

Can anyone help please

Thanks

Gill

They possibly married in 1841.

Have you looked for a marriage on freebmd   www.freebmd.org.uk

Hannah Brown who was born in Gleadless in 1844

Was her birth registered?  If so - you can check for Hannah's maiden name using GRO online and the birth reg details from freebmd

What was mother Hannah's maiden name on the marriage you found?

1851 census shows eldest child of John & Hannah was born 1833/34 so there is no marriage certificate

Birth reg for Hannah b 1843 and brother John b 1846 show mmn Martin as does brother Israel b 1837

Hi all

I may have been on the wrong track as had come up with Hannah Elston (mother) married in December 1841 to a John Brown.
I have George Mimmack Davison from Lincoln marrying a Hannah brown (daughter)in 1863. Hannah (daughter) was born in 1844 in Gleadless.....this part I know is right!.
Thanks for comments...will have another look.

Thanks
Gill
