Help with a medal card, please!
« on: Monday 25 September 17 11:30 BST (UK) »
Can someone help me interpret this card, please?

I see :

- he was in the Leicestershire Regiment during which time he qualified (on 27 Feb 1915) for the award of the 1914-15 Star

- that he also served in the Royal Scots Fusiliers

- qualified for the BWM and Victory medals, but there's no indication which regiment he was in at the time

- and that he was "disemb 13.1.19" - but I'm not clear what "disemb" means.

Anything else, please?

Thanks
STG

PS : I have his medal roll entry, but his main service papers are amongst those "lost" :(

Thanks.  Not quite understanding the significance of a "disemb" date though  ???

And a supplementary question :

Which theatre of war was "1(A)", please?

Disembark can be abbreviated as DISEMB

In this instance I think you will find it means disembodied.

So, effectively, that's the date he was discharged from the Army?

And have found out that 1(A) was France/Flanders.

Disemb. = Disembodied = returned to civvy St.
1(a) = France/Belgium.
A disembodiment was slightly different to a discharge as it applied to men who had been Territorials. They were embodied as opposed to enlisted as civilians were.
In 1917 Territorials were re-numbered with a 6 digit no. as can be seen.
He was awarded his 15 Star while with the Leicesters.
This was probably his Batt.
