At Moretonhamstead there's
Thomas son of Nicholas  Bennett baptised 11 Mar 1659 and
Thomas son of Nicholas  Bennett baptised 25 Sep 1662

The first appears to have been buried 30 Oct 1660.

The second is rather young to have a child in 1681, but Thomas Randall alias Bennett would be even younger.

However, how sure are you that the 1681 William in Moretonhampstead is the one you want?. Note that the baptism of William Bennett on 6 Mar 1721 was recorded at Charles in North Devon, not Charles the Martyr in Plymouth. Nearly as far from Stoke Dameral as you can get without leaving the county.

David,

Sorry to have been so long coming back to you. I've been trying to check my data but I'm having trouble locating my sources. My records say that I used the IGI but I can't find what I had originally; I don't know if it's me or the IGI that's at fault. Anyway, I'll keep trying.

David,

I  think that you've shot me down in flames! All my references to the BENNET family are to the parish of Charles. Because Elizabeth BENNETT was bap in Stoke Damerel, and her parents William BENNETT & Elizabeth DYER married in Stoke Damerel on 30 Sep 1747 (I have a copy from the parish register), I assumed that the BENNETTs I found in Charles were from Charles the Martyr. So, I'm now starting to hunt for them again.
