R.C. Church, Swords
« on: Tuesday 26 September 17 19:42 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I have an ancestor whose baptism I found but it just says Swords, Dublin, 15 Feb 1834. I thought Swords was a part of Dublin with more than one church. Does anyone have any idea which would have been the most likely church in 1834?
Some of the other children in the family were baptised in St Catharine's Dublin.

These are parish records not individual church records, because the inner city parishes are smaller they usually have only one church so you can tell not only the parish but also the church.

Click on each of the Civil Parishes and you can see all the townlands in the parish
https://www.johngrenham.com/places/civil_in_rc.php?churchid=0502&county=&church_name=Swords

You can than find these Civil Parishes using the search of Historic Parish and look for RCC on the map which marks the Roman Catholic Churches, the COI ones are Ch.

I have had a look and rechecked the baptism record I mentioned. So now I realise that the actual church isn't specified, it's the parish.
