Looking for the grave of Abraham Rowarth.
« on: Wednesday 27 September 17 16:29 BST (UK) »
I’m trying  to find the grave of Abraham Rowarth who died on the 6th April, 1928 aged 83 yrs. at Newbold Rd. Chesterfield. Chesterfield Cemeteries Dept. kindly searched local cemeteries but couldn’t find his name in their cemeteries. I wonder if he was buried in a local churchyard.
I know he was a farmer in the area at one time.

Hi Carole, thanks for your reply!
I don't know where Abraham's wife is buried. Before Abraham died in Chesterfield I believe he lived in the Baslow area. I don't know very much about Abraham's family.

I tried St. John's where they did a search but no luck!
Suggested I try Holy Trinity, Newbold.

Have you looked for an announcement in a local newspaper?

Did he leave a Will? One of my ancestors left instructions about her burial in her Will.

There is mention of an Abraham Rowarth, a farmer from Cutthorpe, Chesterfield, in local newspapers.  Unfortunately the entries only go to 1912 - he won prizes for his sheep at Bakewell Show.
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Yes, that will be Abraham at Cutthorpe, his family also bred sheep. I can't find a copy of his will.

Having contacted all the churches in the Newbold area of Chesterfield an Cemetery Dept. I cannot find any mention of Abraham or his wife Hannah Hill Rowarth.
Is it possible that they could be Methodists and if so is there anywhere or anyone I could contact?
Hannah Hill Rowarth, his wife died in 1926.
