Burials in Warton St Oswald Parish Register 1920
« on: Wednesday 27 September 17 19:05 BST (UK) »
I have Hannah Richardson in the burial register of Warton St Oswald 24 Dec 1920

Where would these burials have taken place and would i generally expect to find anything like a headstone.  I do not have specific details other than what is on the register available online

I am visiting in Lancaster and wondered if it is worth going to have a look?

Any help or opinions appreciated

Thanks

St. Oswald's has a graveyard, and I think it is still used for burials, though when I visited I was looking for stones a century older or more.

It's a very pleasant village to visit.
Looking at ALSTON in south Ribble area, ALSTEAD and DONBAVAND/DUNBABIN etc. everywhere, HOWCROFT and MARSH in Bolton and Westhoughton, PICKERING in the Whitehaven area.

Not all graves have headstones as not all families could afford to pay for one. Not all families could afford to pay for the burial either hence the existence of public and paupers graves.

Looks like MI's were recorded and photo's taken in 1996 - there are plenty of Richardsons there including a Hannah, may or may not be yours though

Why not contact LFHHS and ask them.  Maybe they are only available to members.  :-\
