John Johnston & Darnie Comb (Coombe)

Hello,
I'm trying to find information about John Johnston 1844-1881 and his wife Darnie (Darney) Comb (Coombe) 1835-1931. Darnie was born in New Haven, North Leith and died Dec 16, 1931 in Edinburgh. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

If John was only born 1844 then any marriage would be after 1855.  Have you looked for the marriage on Scotlands People?  Downloading a copy will give you their respective parents names and mothers maiden names    https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/search-our-records

1871 census shows John aged 26 born North Leith and Darnie aged 25 - birthyear 1846

Free index on Scotlands People shows marriage was 1871 and she is transcribed as Darmie Combe

Scotlandspeople seems to have their marriage as John Johnston / Darmie Combe , 1871 , Leith North.

On the 1881 Census transcrirtion(LDS) Darnie is listed as 36 years old , her husband as 37.

1871 shows John b North Leith but unfortunately the 1851 has 2 possible matches for his profile.  Both b 1844 and one with parents Joseph & Elizabeth and the other James & Margaret

In 1871 John was a fisherman and the 1851 entry with parents James & Margaret shows James as a fisherman.  However - the 1871 marriage cert will confirm parentage

CaroleW, Thank you a million times over!!!!!! I'm pretty sure James is John's father. John was lost at sea in 1881 during the Eyemouth Disaster and I see a James, 30 y/o and William 23 y/o lost with him. (All surname Johnston).
This is incredible for me, my aging mother-in-law will be so incredibly happy!
