Thank you Dublin1850 for finding that church it does appear like a bit of makey up Irish.

Sinann that was an interesting link to Boards but i think they have gone a bit awry there,
I could not see a man writing his name as Diarmuid Ceallachain making that mistake for the name Cassidy first off his mothers name is Nora born Cork while he James/Seamus is born Tipperary and the Senators family are from Cork with mother Catherine.
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Dublin/Inns_Quay/Berkeley_Street/1325311/

edited to add Nora actually filled out the 1901 return in Irish

Does this mean I have to read that thread properly.....

I should of had a strong coffee before i read that the brain dosent register too well early in the morning.

:D That wasn't quite what I meant.
I meant I had only skimmed through it, I hadn't checked out the findings.
I'm delighted it didn't prove to be total nonsense though..phew.
I still haven't read it properly.

In his notes on this site:
http://www.leabhair.ie/sob/sraidbac/index.html
Séamas Ó Brógáin says:
“Sráid Ghlas Caonóg” (ceann de na hainmneacha a mhol Seosamh Laoide agus a chomhghleacaithe ón mbliain 1905 ar aghaidh) atá ar na hainmchláir. (Seanainm ar an sruth darb ainm an Bhradóg is ea Glas Caonóg.)

rough translation: Sráis Ghlas Caonóg was one of the names suggested by Joseph Lloyd and his colleagues to be put on the street name signs. Glas Caonóg was an older name for the Bradogue.

This is the route of the Bradogue: http://www.naomhfionnbarra.ie/localhistoryfolklore/bradogue-river/
Coffey, Cummins [Rathfalla, Tipperary], Cummins [Skirke, Laois], Curran, Dillon [Clare], Fogarty [Garran, Laois/Tipp], Hughes, Keshan (Keeshan), Loughman [Harristown and Killadooley, Laois], Mallon [Armagh], Malone, Markham [Caherkine, Clare], McKeon(e) [Sligo/Kilkenny/Waterford], McNamara, Meagher, Prescott [Kilkenny/Waterford/Wexford?], Rafferty, Ryan, Sullivan, Tobin

Thank you again Dublin 1850 its good to have some sort of interpretation of the name though cant fathom why Diarmuid Ceallachain should use it.

Given the Roger Casement stuff and use of Irish it sounds like he was one of those die hard rebel type priests.

Playing "Snap!" with Gaelic names, there's a Loch Glascarnoch in Ross-shire!

Skoosh.
