Kitty
« on: Wednesday 27 September 17 20:50 BST (UK) »
Hello,
I'm looking for the maiden name of a lady who may have been born in Sutherland. I knew her as Kitty and she lived with, or married a man from Hong Kong. His surname was Tong/Tang or Tung and they lived in Liverpool. Kitty was probably born c1920 and I've discovered that a Kathleen Mary E Tang died in Liverpool in 2002. Her birth date is given as 10.7.1920. With very little to go on, does anyone know where I might find out her maiden name and details of her marriage? All help appreciated.
                           Many Thanks

Kathleen M Tang born 10 July 1920 appears on the 1939 register with (probably) her parents Chang and Alice Tang.  So it doesn't look as though this is your Kitty.

Thank you Galium, excellent find. I'm not sure which way to turn as this appears to be unsolvable, and therefore remain a mystery.

Are you sure she didn't just live with her father - Kitty could be an abbreviation of Kathleen?

On the face of it she does appear to be the lady living with her parents.

Chang died in 1970 Liverpool born 1892
Alice died in 1965 Liverpool age 68

What years did you know her?

Marriage for Chang Tang and Alice O'Neill Liverpool 1925.
There are two Kathleen M Tang birth entries with mothers name O'Neill and two for a Norah J Tang.

1920 then 1934 for Kathleen and 1922 then 1934 for Norah so both late registrations.
Norah marries in 1947 Southampton.

Sorry if this is all on the wrong track but Tang is an unusual name.

Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

Many thanks for the input. I'll sleep on it tonight and dig out some old photos and documents and see if I can take this forward.
