Trying to get started

I am looking to find some information on a Thomas Kenneth Martin,born June 1919,he served aboard the Emperor in WW2,but untill I can find his service number I know I will struggle to find anything
in the RN  long service and good conduct records on a certain site,they have a Kenneth Martin,with the letters OPWA in the rating column,what does this mean please,
can someone get me started please

Service records after 1920 are still with the MOD

I understand that you can purchase these without knowing the service number

I've just applied for some Army records; no idea of service number but did know date of birth and death. Copy of death certificate required.
Now just a matter of waiting.............
