Sydney John Smith 1923

Good evening all.
I'm helping a friend find her father's family and I need some help please.
Sydney married Isabella Anforth 1st November 1943 in the parish of Beamish, Durham. On the marriage cert his father is H? Valentine Smith Deceased. Engineer. The "H" is illegible.
I'm looking for Sydneys birth details and his parents please.
If anyone can help it would be appreciated.

Have you tried looking for  Sydney on the 1939 register.  Did he have any siblings

In the message title you have 1923. Is it from the marriage certificate ?

Hi from what I can locate re Isabella, she was born 22nd September 1925 and died same birth date as Smith, 1995 Durham North

Glenclare - yes 1923 is from the marriage cert
Rosie99 - I don't have access to the 1939 reg.I only subscribe to Ancestry and it is on Findmypast.
Keyboard86 - thank you for that info.
On the marriage cert it says he is a soldier. I have tried to find his service records but no luck.

Hi I know you are helping a friend, but without providing details of any children the couple had possibly who are still alive, could you give years and places of birth?
And just when/where did Sydney die?

Sorry,keyboard86, she doesn't know anything about her paternal grandfather. That's why I sent for his marriage cert to get the name of his father but his first name is unreadable. I think she needs to try and find more info from her sisters.
