Those very large leg of mutton sleeves are usually associated with the early 1890s.   So I am guessing early in that decade.

To attract the dating experts, how about adding 'dating' to your orginal title.     ;)

Wow thank you very much !

I have a rather large tiff file of the scan, it would be great to clean that up.

Did you use photoshop and various filters or was it mostly by hand ?

Regards
Steve

According to the photoLondon database, this studio was at these premises as a company from 1891-1901.

I would say mid-late 1890s going by the sleeves. if you want it restored...you can modify the title of your post to include a restore.

There are several members of the Benedetti family on the database.

Thanks for that info, the reverse of the image matches these periods;
2. 78 Rye Lane, Peckham 1884 - 1901. Successors to Benedetti & Boccalini; succeeded by Benedetti & Son.
Unnumbered until 1888: usually listed as "By Station Approach ", or "Corner of South Grove" Aka Britannia Photographic Co.
3. 39 High Road, Lee, Lewisham 1887 - 1901. Succeeded by Benedetti & Son.

Given that the image is numbered, it would seem to date from between 1888 and 1901, which narrows things down quite a lot !

One last question; Can anyone hazard a guess at the age of the woman in the picture?

We were thinking she looks around 50 years of age

Thanks
