B1885 Scotland ro Mary Ann 1859 and James possibly Bruce Thomson 1860,
the surname is def Thomson but has been transcribed as Thompson he could have been know as Alec.

Family moved from Scotland to Eastleigh per c 1901 he had 5 sisters, in 1911 he was working for the LSWR as a Coach trimmer, My father has told me He was working as a Motor coach trimmer in Park Royal probably for Hooper's fitting out Rolls and Daimler cars, as he said he had a big pot of gold sovereigns possibly tips from the customers.

If he moved to Eastleigh he may have served his time in one of the Scottish railway workshops, so my money would be on Springburn, Glasgow & either at the Caley or Cowlairs works.

Thompson with the p is often English or Irish.

Skoosh.

Looking at the 1901 census two younger sisters, Jemima and Blanche were born in Hampshire. The groindexes would indicate that mother's maiden name was Battersby. Using this information I note on SP that there is this marriage in 1882:  James Thomson and Mary Battersby (Old Monkland -Eastern District).

William
Dent (Haltwhistle and Sacriston), Bell and Jetson (Haltwhistle), Postle, Ward, Longstaff, Purvis, Manners, Parnaby and Hardy (Co. Durham), Kennedy and McRobert (Banffshire), Reid(Bathgate), Watson (Wemyss), Graham (Libberton), Sandilands (Carmichael), Munro (Dingwall)

Hi again, I am certain the one in Harrow in 1939  is him, the couple had a son Alexander F who died same year, their next son was 1915 a James B mmn Olliver.
The couple died in Sussex
