Are you using the Scotlandspeople website ?
https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/

That is the only place for original Scottish Census records.

Ah, yes, I was just searching for it incorrectly.

I'm pretty sure that's them... the locations and times line up.

Now to try and find birth certificates or their parents names... sigh!

Thanks again for all of your help!

Hi folks,
Interestingly on the 1851 Census  at Inch, Wigtownshire -
the address Gennoch Cothouse

William McCormack      Head       59    Tailor                             born Wigtownshire, Inch
Mary McCormack         Wife         60 Engaged in domestic duties born Wigtownshire, Stoneykirk
Margaret McCormack    Dau         27  Cotton Flourer                   born    "              , Inch
Jean McCormack           Dau        15   Cotton Flourer                  born     "              . Inch
James Wilson      Nephew    7   Scholar                            born    "               , Leswalt

Could this be James Muir Wilson? Odd that it's a boy of right name & age living at that address . Wonder where his parents are ?

Looby :)

Only problem is one Gennoch Cothouse is Inch parish (1851) and the other is in OLd Luce parish (1841) - I'm not sure it's the same cottage. Could be a co-incidence  ::)

 HermitCedar,
Do you know what James Muir Wilson's occupation was when he married ?
And have you found him on the England 1871 Census ?

Been looking on Scottish Censuses and can't find the family :(

Looby :)

Hello!

Yes, I think I found him on the 1871 census in Toxteth Park in Liverpool.

By at that time he was 27, the census just says "born in Scotland," and his profession is "warehouseman."

These 1870s brits didn't want to give me much detail to go on :)
