Sarah A Woods nee Jacobs
« on: Saturday 30 September 17 13:11 BST (UK) »
Hello.

This lady is one of my brickwalls and I was wondering if anyone can help.

She was the sister of my gg grandfather, and her birth was registered as Sarah A Jacobs J/F/M 1888 Faversham.
I have found a marriage which I believe is for her J/F/M 1912 Faversham to a Herbert T Woods.
They had 2 children that I can find:
Constance N Woods born J/F/M 1913 Faversham and Maggie I born J/A/S 1915.
Constance marries Fred Mannooch J/A/S 1936 Faversham,Maggies death is registered June 1917 Faversham.
The problem is,i can find no death entry for either Sarah or Herbert, nor a re marriage for Sarah.
Also,i can find no birth entry for a Herbert T Woods. The closest I can see is a Herbert Frederick Woods in Canterbury in 1873.
Most of this part of my family worked in Faversham as brickfield, gunpowder and Creekside labourers, and tended to live and work locally, but scouring the census offers no clues about Herbert.
I don't have the marriage cert at the moment.
I would be grateful for any help in finding out what became of them, and anything on Herbert.
Thanks.

Have you found either of them in the 1939 register to see if they were still alive then?

I've found the daughter in 1939, but no sign of Sarah and Herbert and no deaths either, very strange.

Thanks for the reply Groom. It is strange. These two have beem on my tree for years with just there birth and marriage.I did wonder if they might have emigrated or something, but not sure where to look. But that doesn't explain the absence of birth entry for Herbert.Ive got several people on this part of my tree that have had me stumped for years,so I'm going to post them to see if anyone can help.
Nel.

There's a Herbert T Woods who served in WW1 but I can't find any date or place of birth to see if it could be him.

Name:   Herbert T Woods
Regiment or Corps:   Royal Field Artillery
Regimental Number:   147584

Its hard to say without his age etc;the one I'm looking for would have been the right age for WW1 service.Does it say where he was posted?

Constance N Woods born J/F/M 1913 Faversham and Maggie I born J/A/S 1915.

Constance marries Fred Mannooch J/A/S 1936 Faversham,

Maggies death is registered June 1917 Faversham.

Not sure if this will help locate a death for Herbert or Sarah but it appears their daugther
Maggie Irene (Peggy) Woods died in 1917 buried Faversham Cemetery
the Youngest and Dearly beloved daughter of Sarah (Jacobs) and the late Herbert Woods,

so he possibly died between 1915 - 1917
