Many thanks for the replies.
The Herbert Wood on the 1911 looks promising. The image shows he was a labourer in gunpowder factory. He was living at 2 Russell Place,Oare nr Faversham.Im very familiar with the geography of Faversham having grew up there, and this address is a stones throw from the old Gunpowder Works at Uplees.
On the 1901 theres a Herbert Woods born 1891 Shoeburyness lodging in Essex,a brickfield labourer, and on the 1891 a Herbert J Woods born 1891 Shoeburyness with a large family.Theres a birth for a Herbert John Woods 1890 Rochford,Essex.
The marriage to my g aunt shows Horace T Woods, but that could be a mistaken reading of J,or maybe he had reason to alter his real name,as with the dropping of th s.
I'm very familiar with the history of gunpowder in Faversham, many of my ancestors worked in the industry including my g grandfather, who was Sarahs brother. He was a labourer who worked his way up to foreman labourer at the works by the time of his death in 1918 aged 36,according to my uncle. He was buried in an unmarked grave in Faversham Cemetary, though he got a headstone some 60 years later when his wife joined him, having raised 8 boys singlehandedly.
Looking at Charles E Jackson, there is an Edgar Charles E Jackson born Faversham in 1896.The census shows his family did similar work. There is a death in 1951 Sittingbourne, about 8 miles from Faversham, also a Sarah A Jackson 1951 Sittingbourne born c1890.
With Sarah having been widowed so young,i had anticipated the possibility of more children, but I can find no Jackson/Wood/s births.
I think I will need some certificates to confirm, but it all looks about right.
Thanks again.
