Frances Saywell nee Ferrell/Furrell
« on: Monday 02 October 17 14:12 BST (UK) »
This is another one that's puzzling me;ive only noticed it thanks to the new GRO birth search.

1861
James Coppins b1828 Faversham
FRANCES b1833 Milstead
Sarah A b1856 Sittingbourne
Julia b1858
Stephen b1860

1871
James
FRANCES b1834 Sittingbourne.
Alfred b1863 Faversham
Arthur b1865
Edwin b1868

James Coppins marries Frances Saywell O/N/D 1863 Faversham

I had initially thought that Frances was the Frances Saywell on 1851 b1833 Rodmersham, son of Richard and Sarah. When I added this a few years back, the late marriage and pre marriage births didn't occur to me.

Today ive been looking for more children on the GRO register and ive noticed that Sarah Ann born Sept quart 1856 Milto is registered as Saywell mmn Furrell,as is Julia Mary b Sept quart 1858.There is also an earlier birth for Stephen John Saywell March quart 1853 Faversham mmn Ferrell. His death registered 1854 Faversham.
The other pre marriage child Stephen b1860 is registered as Coppen mmn Saywell.

So I'm now assuming she was Frances Ferrell/Furrell who was previously married to a Saywell.

The only marriage I can find is a Hannah Ferrell to a John Bennett Saywell O/N/D 1847 Milton, which would make her very young, and the names different.

There is also a marriage o/n/d 1847 Milton Frances Saywell/William Kitchingham, which could be significant.

Please can anyone help me find Frances and tell me who her first husband was.

Thanks.

I would say the time has come to bite the bullet and buy the Saywell/Coppins  marriage cert.

Then you will see a) if she is a spinster or widw and b) what her fathers name and occupation was.

As you say, on the face of it, that daughter of Richard and Sarah  Saywell appears to be the only Frances of the right age and in the right area in 1851.

However - red writing shows avm is on the case and indicates the older children are the children of the John and Hannah marriage!

John Bennett Saywell's entry in the 1900 US census (in Cleveland) shows his immigration date as 1870.

He and Hannah appear in Ohio in the 1880 US census with Julia and Frank.
