Death in Gloucestershire but on Scotland Probate Index

Wondering why this would be?

Jane Pick of The George Hotel Frocester died 15 March 1901 Frocester.

I don't know of any links she had to Scotland but it says certificate endorsed by Commissary Clerk of Edinburgh.

Would it simply be administration in that more "local" courts were too busy? 
Be interested to find out as not come across this before.

Think it indicates that she must have had assets in Scotland, hence the certificate. Note that the will is listed in the wills index on Scotland's People (if you wished to read it this would be the most cost effective source - only 10 credits).

Edit ~ I see James Green Harris grocer is also named on her husband's probate record

Sounds complicated but thank you.  I don't know who James Harris was but will have a look for him.

Scotland and England have separate legal systems.
Even today, if someone who dies in England/Wales has assets in Scotland, then probate must be sought in England/Wales and "Confirmation" must be sought in Scotland.

This line in particular saying
Confirmation is possible only if the inventory includes at least one item of money or other property in Scotland.

Have been researching for nigh on 10 years and this is my first whiff of anything North of the border. 

I can't imagine it could be property, maybe an investment. 

Haven't found grocer James yet.  Checked family tree and he isn't on there.

A friend and I have a similar problem!
His partner died 3 years ago on the Isle of Man. She had previously inherited shares from her father.
Probate on the Isle of Man accounted for property and her bank accounts.
The shares are in UK (English) companies, so we have to go through another (English) legal process to get the shares transferred, and all future dividends paid to my friend.

I would imagine something similar has happened in your case.

Must be just her.  Interesting.

Having another look for James the grocer now, see what connection he had if any.

Doing a search for the surname Pick on the wills index on Scotland's People only produces 3 results and they are all for your Jane Pick: her will (non Scottish Court), note of probate (Edinburgh Sheriff Court Inventories) and one where it states no image is available (does not make it clear what kind of document it is). And just to add to my earlier reply to download the will from SP would cost10 credits - 30 credits cost £7.50.
