Sandra may I ask how you were able to get a copy of a Pennsylvania Death Certificate. I have been running into walls trying to gather information on my Great Grandparents. My Great Grandfather, James Fox, born June 1860, arrived in New York from Liverpool on the ship Helvetia on Oct. 16, 1882. I pick him up on Montgomery CountyPennsylvania Census 1900. The Census shows his wife Mary( I cannot find her Maiden name to trace her), who date of birth is Oct. 1857, arrived in the USA 1866, they were married 1892. The Census also listed 2 daughters Lillian, DOB Nov 1889 and Winfred(my Grandmother), DOB Dec 15, 1896. I did notice the dates of birth and Marriage. I'm not sure if Mary was Married before. I'm stuck here on my Great GrandParents. What is interesting is I found my Grandmother and her Sister in two different 1910 Philadelphia Census both were for two Orphan Homes. The other Thing is I remember my Grandmother mentioning a younger sister name Mary.

Any help or advice?

PS - Both Census stated both Great Grandparents were born in Northern Ireland Or Ireland Free State.

Statewide registration of deaths in Pennsylvania did not begin until 1906.  Deaths were recorded by the Clerk of Orphans Court at each county courthouse.  Enquiries should be directed to the courthouse of the county in which the death occurred. These records are not complete. Microfilm copies of some records can also be found at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah. 

Presume your Winifred might be - Winifred Markham - born 15 December 1896 - passed away April 1986 18901 Doylestown, Bucks, Pennsylvania.

If the age of Lillian was correct on the 1900 census - then she was born before the 1892
marriage.
 
The census also says Mary had 11 children but only 2 survive  Perhaps she had been married previously.

Did you trace Lillian after 1910 ?

Sandra thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I didn't know there was an USA site; I signed up here for possibilities of Family members seeing my inquiries. Yes, Winifred Markham is my Grandmother. My question to you was to see if there was a free site for Birth/Death/Marriage Certificates as the County and State charge for copies. I have not found Birth or Marriage info on my Maternal Grandparents. I have traced my paternal side back to 1700's. Something is very strange That I can't find records or newspaper articles on the Fox side. If you have any other advice I will appreciate it. May I add there were many James Fox's that came to the USA.

My Family Tree is on My Heritage. I did a DNA test thru 23 and me. I am in a small group of ancient bloodline that dates back thousands of years mostly in Europe. I would like to get all the information on my Mothers side. We have been in contact via Facebook with my Fathers(Caslin) distant relatives in England. I have found a lot of document thru LDS-Family Search, My Heritage and the Internet.

Prior to 1906, Pennsylvania births and deaths were recorded only sporadically by the counties and some cities such as Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. We have to rely on county records or non-governmental sources such as church registers, gravestone inscriptions and newspapers to obtain data for this earlier period.

Could this be James & Mary in the 1910 census?  https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33S7-9RV8-D78?i=3&cc=1727033  The information doesn't match perfectly with the 1900 census, but the number of living/deceased children is very similar, and it indicates both were married twice.

Yes, I think it is my GGparents, different neighborhood, not far from Norristown(1900 Census). Some dates are changed by a year or two, Birth dates and year arrived in USA. As I mentioned before the girls showed up in two different Orphanages in the 1910 census. I like to find the story behind that, but no living relatives with knowledge of the circumstances. I don't why this census didn't pop up during my search in Family Search. This is the second Item from members on this site that should have shown up in my searches. Thanks for your help, I appreciate it very much. My Grandmothers Birth or Death Certificates haven't shown yet, it would make it easier having her mother maiden name.
