Passenger lists
« on: Monday 02 October 17 21:01 BST (UK) »
I'm looking for details for Daniel MacGregor & his wife Grace Alexandrina Fraser MacLean who I think emigrated to either USA OR Canada.  I can't find a death in Scotland for either of them but can find family (if they are the correct ones) in Pennsylvania.
They were the parents of the Coal Board Chairman Sir Ian MacGregor, (National Coal Board Chairman)who was born in Kinlochleven in 1912
Sir Ian MacGregor emigrated to Montreal in 1940 and married his wife Sybil Spencer in Washington DC in 1942.  She was born in Wales and died in 1996 in Washington

To narrow it down, they are still in Glasgow - 54 Broomhill Road, in 1945, as Daniel is given as nearest relative from where Ian departed.

Have you got a date of birth for either Daniel or Grace?

Hi,

New York Passenger List arriving 1953 on the Brittanic, going to the same address Hilton St.,
Phil. PA. Daniel, age 47 b. Scotland and Grace age 47, b. England.

This Pennsylvania couple is too young to be yours.

For your records, you can see the 1945 Detroit boarder crossing manifest that Groom found for Ian.
