There are only 2 James CHAMLEY's birth registered between 1870 and 1880, both in Yorkshire:
CHAMLEY James       mmn WADDINGTON    1871  M Qtr Bradford (09B/234)
CHAMLEY James     mmn HUNTER       1874  S Qtr Dewsbury  (09B/734)

and also
CHUMLEY James        mmn    JOPLING    1874  J Qtr Bethnal Green (01C/ 270)

The Bradford CHAMLEYS appear to be parents William and Nancy (married 1866). James is a wool sorter in 1891, and marries Frances Mary ROBERTSHAW in J Qtr 1897 at North Brierly. I can find them still married in 1911 at Bradford. Frances died in 1949 - so I think you can discount this James. 

William CHAMLEY married Margaret HUNTER M Qtr 1866 at Settle (9a/11). Other children to this couple include Annie (D Qtr 1868 Settle), Mary (D Qtr 1870, Skipton), Ada (M Qtr 1878, Haslingden) and Alexander (S Qtr 1876 Hemsworth), Clara (D Qtr 1880 Haslingden), Matthew (D Qtr 1882 Haslingden), Bertha (M Qtr 1885 Haslingden), Margaret Ann (D Qtr 1886 Haslingden). I can't see them on a census, however there is an Alexander CHAMLEY of the right age to be James' brother marries in Barton in 1905. And Matthew CHAMLEY (b 1882) dies in Barton in 1947. So a piece of evidence that the Dewsbury James could be the correct one?

Thank you so much information.   Thank you all.   I am just heading out to work so I will read through it more throughly.  I can't thank you all enough.

In my moms marriage certificate it lists my grandfather as. Air raid warden and in brackets coal roundsman.   I am not sure what that it,    It does list the address as 52 park street Patricroft.    This address is also listed on my dad's. Military records as it shows permission to marry
