Death of Madeleine Kate Humphries,
« on: Tuesday 03 October 17 13:21 BST (UK) »
I am helping a friend put together the basic details of this family and have come stuck on this one.

Madeleine Kate Humphries born in 1886 in Wiltshire. Married Walter Herbert Ranger in 1915, (also known as Herbert) They moved to Canada and Walter died in 1923 as a result from injury during WW1. They had 1 child Mary E.
They seemed to move back and forth quite a bit between England and Canada. Madeleine moved back to UK in 1923 as a widow,  with Mary but then went back to Canada in 1948. (She had brothers here and some of Walters family)
I then have no trace of her. I am trying to see if she died in Canada or eventually came back to England. I have her on numerous passenger lists and the 1939 register but the can find no trace of her after 1948.

 Any help much appreciated.

So in 1948 she travels to New York from Southampton on the Queen Elizabeth.

On that record it says England for country of intended residence.

Yes, daughter Mary E was born in 1920 in Canada. I have located the family on the 1921 census. Mary married Philip Wallis in England, and they moved to Canada in 1949 a year after Madeline last went. I have found Mary Wallis's burial in Airdrie Cemetery in Calgary but still nothing on Madeline.

Thank you for your help.

I have found Madeline Kate Humphries in my own extended Tree.I have her death as possibly Canada in 1965.Unfortunately have not kept my original note on this.

Her brother Arthur A Humphries married Evelyn M Dyer 1918 Amesbury [Winterbourne Stoke]Evelyn being a member of my own Dyers, which is why I researched them.

Arthur and Evelyn Humphries believe had three daughters,Jean,Betty and Evelyn, emigrating to Quebec Canada in 1923.
Sailings for this family show a 1930 address,as c/of Diffeys Caterers St Thomas Square Salisbury.
Possible that  Madeline was visiting her brothers family in Canada, when going out in 1948.
Hope this helps,Brionne.

Thank you Brionne.
I think i have found her on the Canadian voters list in 1963 but then nothing so assume she died after then. Her daughter Mary E Wallis is buried in Airdrie so i have told my friend all this and he is going to contact friends living in Canada to see if they can help.
He is looking into Madelines husbands side, Walter Herbert Ranger.

Incidentally, i am tracing Dyer in Somerset. Mine are mainly from Street, Creech st Michael and North Petherton.

Thanjs for your help, Nicky x
