HUGGINS burial 1878 Dewsbury
« on: Tuesday 03 October 17 20:31 BST (UK) »
Please can anyone help find the burial of Elizabeth Eliza HUGGINS, died Dewsbury 5 January 1878 age 23 at Webster Street, with her brother Charles present. Their father was also Charles.

Also any 1871 or 1881 census for the street if any other HUGGINS family there.
Elizabeth & Charles were both present at home in Coningsby, Lincolnshire at those times, but we have no clue why she was in Dewsbury, though she had had two illegitemate daughters in 1872 and '74, so possibly sent away.
I gather that Webster St was in a slum area.
any background info on Dewsbury and area appreciated.
Thanks!
Richard

Have you got birth addresses for those daughters?  Might be a relative present at the birth.

Although at home in 1871 Elizabeth is down as a domestic servant so maybe she was in service in Dewsbury - what happened to the 2 little girls?

Brother Charles is in Dewsbury in 1881 name under Huggin age 28
Married to Mary with 2 little boys Arthur and Herbert both born Dewsbury

Add is Harwood St but a few pages forward on census is Back Webster St.  Then Vulcan Rd with Elephant and Castle public house then onto Webster St.  Have you got a house number by any chance?

To give you someone on Webster St for reference to look up there is Sophia E Rogers born Dewsbury 1857 daughter of James and Elizabeth.  The family are on Webster St 1871/1881.

Thanks for census info...
I dont have a house number for 1881.  Strangely there is a Charles also in Lincolnshire census, which i thought was him, stated as born Coningsby, age 26, unmarried.  Yet the Dewsbury Charles certainly looks like the Dewsbury one is the right Charles, being born Boston.  I have now ordered the marriage certificate to check fathers name.

The address in 1901 175 Huddersfield Road shows on the map as two parts, but am not sure where 175 is?

Also i cannot find the family on 1891 census...can anyone help?  name seems to be either HUGGINS or HUGGIN.
Thanks for everyones help!
Richard

Whereabouts is the cemetery and the unconsecrated area?
