James Melbourne born Belper ?
« on: Wednesday 04 October 17 16:34 BST (UK) »
I have a James marrying Eliza Bacon, Jun. 1883 Belper. from census records i am trying to establish when he was born, 1901, Long Eaton, plate layer,b. 1859, 1911 he is in Shardlow, b1879.
Looking on Free BMD !837 to 1870, there are no James matching any of the dates
Just an aside
n the 1901 census, there is a Thomas Niland  born Ireland 1876, living with the family, discribed as a " Scavenger", begs one to question why Wilfrid had the middle name Niland
1911 cen. in this census Wilfrid is recorded as Wilfred Melbourne Nyland ?

Menage a trois or just a good friend !!
                                                        Thank You, bodger

Have you looked at the original copy of the 1911 for James's age  ;)  Do you have the marriage cert for James & Eliza to confirm his fathers name

I wonder what the birth certificate for Wilfred says   ::)   ;D  It looks as though James & Eliza could have been covering up for Edith

James in 1911 is said to be 52, married 28 years.  3 children.  Edith Melbourne has been crossed out, said to be married  ;)  Two other Melbourne surnames in the household.

Nyland family in Breaston - 1911.  Entered as Nyland, but Thomas signed as Niland, birthplace shown as Roscommon..
