Birth/Baptism for Samuel Swainson - 1820, Liverpool

Hello,

I'm struggling to find a birth or baptism record for Samuel Swainson born abt 1820 in Liverpool (according to Census Records) and died 1892 in Derby.

Unfortunately I don't have a name for his parents as he is already living with his wife, Ann, in the 1841 Census.

Any help would be really appreciated, thank you!

In 1841 there is a one month old daughter Margaret whose birth is on freebmd.  Have you used the GRO online site to find Ann's maiden name?

Given their ages in 1841 they must have married after 1837 so have you checked freebmd for a marriage?

Finding the marriage and a marriage cert will give his fathers name

There is a baptism on 13.2.1843 at St Peters for a Margaret Swainson - parents Samuel Hornby Swainson and Ann.  Samuel is a brush maker and address is Collingwood St.  Unfortunately it does not Show Margaret's actual birthdate

A Sarah Hornby married John Swainson 12.10.1815 at St Anne's  Church Liverpool

Thank you for your help. In the 1841 Census the family are living with a Dorothy Boardman who is old enough to be Ann's mother. I've searched for a marriage between a Boardman and Swainson but I haven't managed to retrieve any results.

I do have Margaret listed; I'm wondering if the baptism is for Margaret. I'm thinking what you have is correct and Samuel was given his mother's maiden name as his middle name.

In 1851 the family is in Cumberland and Samuel is a brushmaker so it looks like his full name was Samuel Hornby Swainson

Thank you, I'm going to try and find a marriage record between Samuel and Ann, just to see if it gives clarification that his parents were John and Sarah.

I can't find a marriage record anywhere, nor can I find a birth/baptism record.

A lot of family trees have Margaret Broderick and Samuel Hornby Swainson, baptised 1782 in Liverpool, (married 1804 in Liverpool) as Samuel's parents. But going by this, there is a baptism record on 2 Jan 1826 in Liverpool. That would make him 15/16 in 1841.

I can't find any records with Sarah or John other than their marriage.

According to the GRO search I mentioned above on Margaret's birth registration - Ann's maiden name was Boardman
