Hi,

When searching remember, Shea might show up as O'Shea in some records, easily done.

Gerry

Everyone thought my g grandmother was Theresa Eva O'Shea, however when I started looking I found my grandfather's birth certificate (hard copy) which listed her as Nellie Eva Shea. Her Death certificate also says Theresa Eva Shea.
Thats when I found the birth certificate of Theresa Eva Shea - same year and month and place of her birth, but her son thought it was 13th May, birth certificate says 18th may. It also matched the auntie and uncle mum lived with Sarah and Claud Rawlinson.

1861 Wales Census
At Main Road, Aberystruth

Elizabeth Shea   25, head, married, housekeeper, b Ireland
Michael Shea   7, b Aberystruth
Dennis Shea   4 b Aberystruth
Elizabeth Shea   2 b Aberystruth
Brian Kelly   30, lodger, Iron Wheeler, b Ireland
David Cottins   35, lodger, Iron Wheeler, b Ireland
Bridget Cottins   30 Lodger
Bridget    1, lodger

Aberystruth is in South Wales, in the registration district of Abergavenny - not to be confused with the more well-known Aberystwyth, which is also in Wales but further north and on the coast.  My husband's ancestors were also in Aberystruth in 1851 and 1861.  It is a mining district in the valleys of South Wales, unfortunately the Parish of Aberystruth has no village of its own name, but the following are names of the places contained in this extensive parish: Abertillery, Nant-y-Glo, Garnfach, Blaina, Cwm and Cwmtillery and I can't see which village is exactly where Elizabeth and the children were.

Daniel Edit Dennis (the father) is not listed in that household in 1861.  There are others of the same surname in Aberystruth at the time.

Judith
DYER - Wilts, London, Somerset, MIDLANE - Hants, Wilts, SONE - Hants, WRIGHT - London, Hants, SEAGER - Deptford, DWYER, FERGUSON - Victoria, MASON - Woodford Vic, BALLARD - South Wales, GOULDBY - Lowestoft

16529/1964 SHEA Elizabeth Margaret parents DENNIS and MARY BALMAIN

Theresa's birth certificate (hard copy) has:

18th May 1890, Skinner St, South Grafton, Theresa Eva, Sex Female.
father Denis Shea, Blacksmith, age 32, birth place Wales.
marriage date, 24th May 1884 Bellinger NSW, living Males 2, Females 1, Deceased none
mother Mary Taylor, age 29, birthplace Clare Ireland.

So i am guessing that this matches with the children already found.
James Samuel b1885 Bellinger River
Robert b1886 Bellinger River
Mary A b1888 Boat Harbour
Theresa Eva b1890 Grafton

Then the rest I had from searching but was not sure if related except for Sarah Ann (due to Claud Rawlinson)

William b1892 Grafton
Sarah Ann b1894 Maclean
Elizabeth b1897 Bellinger
Delia Irene b1899 Kempsey

Elizabeth I didnt know about until today.
Delia - Mum had an aunty Irene - so I am guessing that is her. Sarah was always know as aunty Nan, Francis was always known as Claud.

So from the birth certificate I guessed Denis, Theresa dad was born in 1858 and her mother Mary born in 1861. Which then marry's up with their wedding certificate.
Their wedding certificate has "In the presents of James Taylor and Margaret Taylor" so I am guessing they are her parents - I could be wrong, they might be siblings.

You may be right Gerry.  ;)

I think this may be the marriage of Mary A who was born in 1888.

Recall Robert's sister Mrs ROUCHE. I haven't been able to find a marriage, but this one looks close:

7815/1911 RAUCH CARL J to O'SHEA Mary SYDNEY

Marriage notice, 1st column, has her as Mary Agnes: http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article15267329

I had found this and had attached it to mary.
13093/1911 MIDDLEMIS DAVID SHEA MARY A GRAFTON

But Roberts service record matches what you had found.
