« on: Thursday 05 October 17 01:10 BST (UK) »
Can anyone tell me the date this Will was written and the date of Probate from these images. Also are any other people named in these sections?

Matt

Will date is written 4 January 1498 - so 4 January 1499 in New Style dating.

Probate date is 3 July 1500.

I believe the Blessed Virgin Mary is the only person mentioned in the first extract.

However, I'm not sure about a word in the middle of the last line.

There may be a name in the second line of the Probate clause.

With luck Bookbox will confirm its significance or otherwise.

ADDED:

Regarding the last line of the first extract, the reference is to:  s(an)c(t)i Egidij = Saint Giles

There may be a name in the second line of the Probate clause.

I read this as Master Nicholas Erle, the church official who approved the will. Administration is granted to 'the executor', not named in this clause.

However, this will was fully posted in an earlier thread.

Extract 3 in that thread shows that the executor was the testator's son, Richard Thatcher.

No-one else is named in the will, the bequests being to the church and parish.

Many thanks for confirming the date for me.

Thanks for that, and for the link to my other post. I thought I had posted this before but couldn't remember if I included this image and didn't have my notes to hand.

Many thanks again
