There's an entry in the Illinois Probate records which states Frederick C Scagell died intestate on or around 29 May 1916.

Last name mis-transcribed?

There was a mention in the newspaper of the marriage license given to Frederick & Julia:  https://www.newspapers.com/clip/6281431/marriage_of_frederick_c_scagell_and/

In Google Books in the The National Corporation Reporter from 1912, there was a mention of Frederick C. Scagell being Administrator De Bonis Non, of the estate of James W. McCahill, Deceased.
