Last name assistance
« on: Saturday 07 October 17 06:11 BST (UK) »
I'm hoping to decipher my great-great grandmother's maiden name. Her married name was Bridget Robertson, and I understand she was born in Ireland. This picture comes from my great grandparents marriage registry.

Thank you!

Mc something . . . McLeod  (deceased) :-\  Maybe?  (Except I don't know about the hanging letter at the end.)

McCoy?     Yes maybe that's a better guess - with a very flamboyant upper case 'C'

McCoy sounds a better bet for an Irish name too doesn't it?

I got McCoorfer or similar.  Then there's a stroke, presumably to distance the next word which is Deceased.

I think Wiggy is correct - it looks like McCoy to me. The bottom of the Second C is made into a flourish.

Add - the mark after the name is the first parenthesis before Deceased - the second hidden by the line on the form. ( Deceased) -  is usually written like this on the statutory records.
