Kirby Hill - Low House
« on: Saturday 07 October 17 10:54 BST (UK) »
I'm looking for someone with local knowledge of the parish of Kirby Hill. (The one just north of Boroughbridge). I'm looking at a family with children baptised at Kirby Hill in 1764, 1766, and 1769. The place of abode was given as "Low House in the Township of Kirby Hill". The father of these children, William Walker, died in November 1770. Again, the place of abode was given as 'Low House'. Probate records dated 1771 described him as being, "late of Sion Hill in the parish of Kirkby". (The extra 'k' is no doubt an error). Finding Sion Hill on a map is no problem, but I can find no trace of Low House. Are, or were, these separate locations?
