Hoping for some assistance to locate the birth/baptism for James Dansey/Dunsey Reeves who said he was born in Penge, Kent to parents of William Albert Reeves and Ethel Warden.

James migrated to Australia and married in 1923 in Bundaberg, Queensland. His age was given as 27 years.

You need to read the other thread again, his name was James George REEVES.

REEVES, JAMES  GEORGE
Mother's maiden name:CHALF
GRO Reference: 1895  S Quarter in CROYDON  Volume 02A  Page 282

Electoral rolls show him as James Dansey from 1922 to 1937, and after that until his death he was James George.

Hello Wivenhoe,

I am getting the feeling that James may have told a few tall tales in his life.  For example he gave his father's occupation as Construction Engineer.

Now as to your advice to read the file for REEVES Leonard Charles b. Kent, England; it must be too late here as I am missing the point.  That said I shall go to bed as its going on 1 am.

Many many thanks for everyone's contributions.

Yes and I don't think this is going to be the end of it either.

I wonder what he was like as a family man and if there was something in his background that predisposed him to 'stories' or  if it was simply his personality?

William Alfred REEVES and Elizabeth CHALF are parents of James George REEVES.

This couple separate, and William  and Ethel are living together, no marriage that I can see for them.

William and Ethel raise the children found 1901 census, 57 Arpley St.

At marriage, 1923 QLD, James names Ethel as his mother....Ethel raised him.

At death of James, QLD,  the informant has named Elizabeth CHALF as his mother .....James has passed on  this information during his life.

You need to see the death certificate for James REEVES.  The variations in age that you are seeing are insignificant.   I do not think that you need to see any deliberate misinformation here.

If James identifies Ethel as mother, she must have been in his life for some time....mother to him.

So, where is Elizabeth REEVES nee CHALF?.

have a look at the 1911 census [same address] where William & Ethel say they did not have children.
