Marriage of Edward SPENCER St James the Less Ashted 1873
« on: Sunday 08 October 17 11:11 BST (UK) »
On Familysearch there is the marriage of Edward SPENCER and Elizabeth DONNELY on the 18th May 1873 at St James the Less, Ashted.  Is there anyone with access to the original to tell me whether Elizabeth was a widow and if so her father's name?  Many Thanks,    Pat

A birth for one of the children would give her maiden name.

Did they have Sarah A and George?  Age 7 and 2 in 1881.

Could be Marshall but not sure  :-\

There is a George Spencer Jun 1878 and a Fanny Spencer Mar 1882 with MMN Marshall.

Sarah A ** could be the key if she was born before or after marriage in 1873.

** Sarah Ann Sep 1873 MMN Marshall

Could still be wrong but ties together so far.

Ok found marriage entry wasn’t showing up on Anc*y
Birmingham, England, Church of England Marriages and Banns, 1754-1937
but there were marriages showing in 1874 at St James the Less, Ashteds so scrolled backwards and found following

Edward Spencer 37 single, Brook St., father George, both occ nail makers
Elizabeth DONNELY 35 Widow, Brook St.,  father Edward MARSHALL labourer

Edit

witnesses names to their marriage look to read G Kay & A Holland
Edward & Elizabeth both made their mark (x)

That's fantastic!   Thank you all so much for your very speedy replies - You have confirmed my suspicions - You have also conformed Thomas's death and I'm really grateful.  Pat
