I have now been able to view the image of James Hawker's marriage to Ann Preece courtesy of another genealogy detective.

Has anyone noticed that apparently 5 couples were married on the same date? Was this a common practice in those times?

Yes.
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
