Madras Horse Artillary
« on: Sunday 08 October 17 13:30 BST (UK) »
I have found a medal (looks like silver) in my Grandmothers things, with a young Queen Victoria on one side, Pegu on the bar and inscribed Gunner William Railton, Madras Horse Art, I would love to know something about him.

The only connection I know of was that my Grandmother's sister Sarah Jane, was married to a John Gordon Railton and they came from Cumberland as it was then, but as far as I knew they had no children. I have no birth years to help only this medal.

Any help would be appreciated, I am stuck. Thank you.

Although from a naval perspective this is the action he was involved in:

In 1852 he would have been in the HEIC Artillery.
