Cany Anyone Help Date This photograph of the Patrick Children
« on: Sunday 08 October 17 16:39 BST (UK) »
I was given this photograph recently by a family member and I think I know who the children are.
My guess is that it was taken early 1900's but your expert knowledge would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Your thoughts are correct this is Edwardian after 1902 as it's a postcard.
The boy is wearing the cap badge of the Royal Artillery. Whether that's significant I'll let you decide.
Edit:
I see from your post on the WW1 board their father was a WO11 RGA. So that answers that.

Wow !!! Thank you all so much.

It means a lot to me to have my guess confirmed.

Loord74 - What a brilliant job of the "new" photo.

Jim 1  - Yes the cap badge would tie in with the WW1 post I made on their father.

The children were my Great Aunt and Uncles. The smaller of the two girls was my grandmother. Having never known any of the family until recently (due to the circumstances of my mother's birth in 1918) this leaves me speechless.

Thank you all again.

Dorrie

P.S.  I wonder if I should ask if something can be done to enhance the photo of their father ?

A bit of a clean up for the Patrick children....

Whilst close up, I noticed some writing around the hat of Dorrie's nan. I can't make any sense of it, but maybe someone can.

The boy with the RGA cap badge appears to be wearing an army Brodrick Cap, in use from 1902 to 1907. Presumably belonged to his father.

The two shorter girls are wearing sailors hats. Difficult to say whether real items or ones made for the fashion industry. The writing on the tallest girl's hat could read HMS Renown (gothic lettering). There is also writing on the other girl's hat, but difficult to read.
