Richard Summers came home the worse for drink, he struck at his daughter, in doing so he struck Diana on the head which caused her death.

Summers said that since he'd been injured by a fall a little drink affected him. He could not remember what had happened.

Jury returned a verdict of manslaughter with a strong recommendation for mercy.
