William J Slater arrived in New South Wales in 1849 aged 10 years. He arrived with his parents,John and Sarah. What I am trying to find out is what happened to this family and what happened to William and his siblings.Williams father was related to my g.g.grandmother.Any help with this much appreciated and thank you for your time, thank you in advance, tom

The original post stated that William J Slater arrived aged 10 in 1849.

The only match for this is the one posted by majm aboard the 'John Bright' with parents William and Margaret and sister Mary Ann.

It is possible that he has skipped a generation (maybe relying on memory) and that John and Sarah were actually Wm snr's parents.

I think the family aboard 'John Bright' are the ones he seeks and I don't think Josiah and Sarah are the right family. BUT until tom-dick returns to this thread I guess we will just be left wondering!  ???

It's all very confusing.

Can you confirm that your William Snr the tinplate worker had the middle name Henry?

If so, then this is his death: 1781/1865 SLATER William H parent JOHN DIED REDFERN REDFERN

Another newspaper sighting for William J SLATER.

Infant death at 51 market street. 1867 October. Her name  Mary Ann Margaret Wales SLATER. Parents William and Mary
http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/13163060

Confusingly ??? Another death earlier the same year (May 1867) for an older child at her parents residence in Oxford St Kingston. She is also named Mary Ann Margaret SLATER. Parents William and Mary
http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/13141365?

There are a couple more new mentions of William in 1868, but after that, it is hard to track him.
